There's no saying Bye-Bye to this Banshee...

Weeks ago, I was seconds away from calling an exorcist to deal with my ghostly squatter; but as it turned out, she was actually here to help.

Now, my Banshee has gone from 'uninvited guest' to 'tour guide' because she's coming to take Shade and me into the Realm of Souls.

And why are we going there?

Turns out that's where Shade's brother, the Witch King, is being held—and of course, my magic is the only thing that can set him free.

But surviving the barren hell that is the Soul Realm is a whole other ballgame.

And even with all the training I'm being given and my bracelet pumping magical steroids into my skin, I'm still not sure I'm ready to face this.

But I don't have time to develop a backup plan, because if I stay too long in the Realm of Souls...

I can't come back.

When I said I wanted an adventure, maybe I should've been a bit clearer...

See, I imaged a Harry Potter or Disney-style adventure. You know, the kind that comes with plenty of fun, romance, and the promise of a happy ending.

Instead, my adventure is looking like something out of Game of Thrones.

My Shade-filled dreams have been replaced with a recurring nightmare, and there's a random Banshee seemingly haunting mine and Willa's house.

Just when I think nothing else could happen, Shade literally drops through my roof with not-so-good news.

Ever since that fateful knock weeks ago, I expected life to suddenly be brimming with adventure and magic...

Yet here I am, changing my cat's litter and flossing like nothing ever happened.

I mean, my best friend is a fae princess, and there's a magical bracelet fused to my body, for goodness sakes! Shouldn't something be different?!?

But aside from playing mediator in my pet's arguments (which they have far too often), life is pretty, well, boring again. And the only action I'm seeing is in my dreams with my favorite brooding Coven leader.

I know, I know.

I should be careful what I wish for, but as they say, you can't fight human nature.

But maybe I should've? Because I seem to have forgotten that adventure—and danger—go hand in hand.

And when that second fateful knock finally does come, it brings more adventure than I could've ever bargained for...
