It allows the passage of travellers from one to another, but its true purpose is to keep all of creation from colliding.

Orion - a battered alien warship repaired and crewed by humans from Earth.  In a battle at the heart of the nexus, the way home to Earth has been lost, and the Orion has been badly damaged.

With power failing in many parts of the ship, a small team leaves the nexus, travelling to another universe  in search of a power-channeling crystal.]]></description>
